Financial Controller

I am searching for a Financial Controller for a private equity-backed company in the retail sector. You will be expected to make commercial decisions within a growing private equity-backed business and business partner to help drive growth for the company.

The company are looking to grow on a buy and build model and need a Commercial Financial Controller to scale the business across the UK and US. You will report to a friendly and charismatic Finance Director that is approachable and has a proven track record in developing employees.

This is a great opportunity to get involved with a growing company that has just been taken over by a new private equity fund. This role requires you to travel to the US and work on potential mergers and acquisitions, and you will be required to make important decisions regarding the forward trajectory of the business.

What you will be doing:

• Support the Finance Director with commercial decisions
• Manage a team of accountants
• Carry out due diligence and integration on acquisitions
• Be a point of contact for private equity investors with regards to acquisitions targets
• Carry out business partnering to improve profitability
• Prepare pre-acquisition valuation models for investors
• Oversee production of monthly management accounts and analysis
• Hands-on approach with reporting and cash flow forecasting
• Design and implement the appropriate financial controls

About you:

• Fully qualified accountant
• A self-starter, someone willing to take a hands-on approach
• Prior experience with mergers and acquisitions would be beneficial
• The ability to perform in a dynamic environment
• Previous experience around stock management would be looked on favourably
