Global travel organisation with a highly recognisable brand name are looking to appoint a finance professional with strong analytical skills and the ability to deal with complex spreadsheets and large amounts of data. You will provide a high level of financial support to the Global Land Product Director and associated commercial teams who are based in London at the worldwide head office.
Reporting into the Head of Finance, you will produce the monthly management & financial accounts, budgets and forecasts, conduct investigations on a project basis and produce associated reporting for the global cost centres. This exciting opportunity also involves managing the Reconciliations and Payments Manager and indirectly managing the global land accounts payable teams based in the European shared service centre.
Key duties include:
- Primarily responsible for the accounting for the global land cost centres, however will also be required to assist with other cost centres as required.
- Act as a finance business partner and first point of call for the Global Land Product Director, providing management information and analysis on an ad hoc basis.
- Review and analysis of monthly global land income postings.
- Calculation and posting of provisions and estimated future accrued income journal.
- Prepare, review and/or post all other journals, accruals, prepayments and other on-going or monthly accounting entries for global land cost centres.
- Prepare the monthly profit and loss reports, provide variance analysis, analytical review and commentary for required cost centres, and hold monthly P&L review calls with relevant cost centre managers, Financial Controller and Head of Finance.
- Second authorisation of banking payments for global suppliers, and occasional authorisation of other banking payments as required.
- Review of bank reconciliations.
- Timely production, review and commentary for balance sheet & P&L reconciliations.
- Review monthly sales reports and monthly global land report prior to distribution. Question and comment on variances for discussion with Global Land Product Director.
- Liaise and support as an escalation point on any payment queries relating to global land suppliers. Ensure the global land AP function runs smoothly and that suppliers are paid in accordance with contractual agreements.
- Prepare the budget and rolling forecasts and cost centres and liaise with the Global Product Director to prepare the presentation to senior management
Other
- Assist with the initial set up and ongoing development of a global AP payment forecast.
- Drive process improvement in the finance teams.
- Provide mentoring and coaching to help with development of junior finance staff.
- Ensuring all balance sheet accounts are fully reconciled and old balances are clear for year end.
- Assist with production of year end deliverables including preparation of financial statements, reporting pack, audit papers and tax returns.
- Assist with other cost centre budgets and rolling forecasts as required.
- Assist all departments in the implementation of new products/business acquisitions.
- Assist with Company Secretarial duties as required.
- Cross-train with other members of the senior finance team to provide holiday cover when required.
- Other ad hoc investigation and compliance duties as requested by Financial Controller and Head of Finance.
- Assist with quarterly VAT returns, ensuring all tax implications are considered and reported to the Financial Controller.
- Assist the Financial Controller in preparation of corporation tax returns and other tax submissions.
- Assist the Financial Controller in preparation of internal & external audit documentation.
The successful candidate must possess strong excel skills together with first class business partnering and problem-solving skills.
