FCO Services

Senior Project Accountant

Hanslope Park, Milton Keynes

£49,660 - £62,250 plus £1750 location allowance

You’re a first-class Senior Project Accountant with real seniority. You never shy away from a challenge: you deftly handle the finances of vast, complex projects, with a firm handle on both best practice and cost recovery. In both skill and experience, you’re ahead of the curve – but you still want to push yourself further.

We know how you feel. FCO Services are valued by government-level customers worldwide, who look to us to provide secure construction, logistics, digital solutions, and more. Protecting the UK’s interests globally, our organisation has witnessed incredible growth – but our ambitions are bigger still. With our profits set to grow from £160m to £200m in the next two years, we need to expand our Finance team to keep pace with our success and chart a course for the future.

That’s where you’ll come in as our new Senior Project Accountant. Part of a new wave of energetic experts, you’ll be the financial drive behind a thriving business that protects people, information, and assets across the planet. And on top of a strong sense of purpose, you’ll find a home amongst our diverse family and enjoy all the perks and pension of a Civil Service career. In short? It’s your job, bigger.

Be accountable for protecting UK interests:

Our projects are as important as they are intricate: whether it’s making an urgent secure delivery to an embassy overseas, or refurbishing a secure government site here in the UK, there are plenty of knotty challenges involved. You’ll have financial oversight of some of our larger, more complex projects and programmes, and we’ll rely on you for guidance on best practice, no matter the size, location, or the tight deadlines involved. You’ll also help to manage our project accounting principles, looking at recovery of all costs from our extensive project portfolio.

Apply experience where it has extraordinary impact:

Given the extent of our portfolio, it takes a vast range of exceptional colleagues who come together to see the work through. You’ll need to be someone who can hit it off with that whole community of project managers, and who can convey your financial expertise in a way that’s easy to understand. So, alongside a CIMA, ACCA, or ACA qualification, and significant experience in a project accounting environment, you’ll also need a brilliant track record of engaging and managing stakeholders, and guiding policy and procedures – ideally within an estates, logistics or technology background. Firm in your decisions and reasoning, you’ll be able to quickly get to grips with the work and help the team deliver on these vital projects.

Enable business change and find life-changing rewards:

You’re facing world-class challenges here – but you’ll also find incredible perks, like our Civil Service pension, free parking, and well-equipped campus, as well as a rare quality of work-life balance. You’ll leave work firmly at the office and get home on time – and if you’ve got young children, you might even take advantage of our onsite OFSTED-registered nursery. This is an inclusive, supportive team where flexible working is the norm. We’re big on diversity, big on inclusion and big on giving you whatever you need to succeed. Like we said, it’s your job bigger – and your benefits too.

All our colleagues must be security cleared, so you will need to undergo a vetting process before joining.
