Head of Financial Control

Hanslope Park, Milton Keynes

£60,810 - £74,260 plus £1750 location allowance

When it comes to Financial Reporting Control for large complex businesses, you’ve got a wealth of knowledge and experience to share. Your team trust your guidance and they look to you in everything, from your sharp analysis to the way you nurture business relationships to your ability to solve even the trickiest problems. You’re at the top of your game – but you know you could still push yourself further.

We know how you feel. FCO Services are valued by government-level customers worldwide, who look to us to provide secure construction, logistics, digital solutions, and more. Protecting the UK’s interests globally, our organisation has witnessed incredible growth – but our ambitions are bigger still. With our profits set to grow from £160m to £200m in the next two years, we need to expand our Finance team to keep pace with our success and chart a course for the future.

That’s where you’ll come in as our new Head of Financial Control. Part of a new wave of energetic experts, you’ll be the financial drive behind a thriving business that protects people, information, and assets across the planet. And on top of a strong sense of purpose, you’ll find a home amongst our diverse family and enjoy all the perks and pension of a Civil Service career. In short? It’s your job, bigger.

Maintain infrastructure that supports global missions:

Our work is as complex as it is wide-ranging. At any given moment, our teams might be repairing embassies, making secure deliveries, translating for government bodies, or securing government servers – and it’s all happening at once, all over the world. Naturally, we need a Head of Financial Control who has that bigger picture in mind as they oversee the production of our accounts, statements, budgets and forecasts. You’ll be the one who makes sure all our financial information is accurate and that our performance is on target, maintaining a robust infrastructure and a strong, effective controls framework. Plus, you know how to share your understanding, helping finance and non-finance colleagues alike to understand, improve, and embed best practice risk control.

Apply experience where it has extraordinary impact:

Working at government level, it goes without saying that you’ll need exceptional skill and experience, garnering respect at all levels as you build external relationships with bodies from the National Audit Office to HM Treasury. A qualified chartered or certified accountant of at least five years standing, you’ll have the confidence and vision to support the Chief Finance Officer and the Executive Board as they shape our strategic direction and drive forward changes. In fact, you’ll even draw up the map for improving our reporting processes and delivering a new ERP system. And in doing so, you’ll help our organisation become ever more commercially and financially rigorous – benefiting both our customers and the UK taxpayer.

Enable business change and find life-changing rewards:

You’re facing world-class challenges here – but you’ll also find incredible perks, like our Civil Service pension, free parking, and well-equipped campus, as well as a rare quality of work-life balance. You’ll leave work firmly at the office and get home on time – and if you’ve got young children, you might even take advantage of our onsite OFSTED-registered nursery. This is an inclusive, supportive team where flexible working is the norm. We’re big on diversity, big on inclusion and big on giving you whatever you need to succeed. Like we said, it’s your job bigger – and your benefits too.

All our colleagues must be security cleared to the highest level, so you will need to undergo a comprehensive vetting process before joining
