FCO Services

Head of Reporting

Hanslope Park, Milton Keynes

£49,660 - £62,250 plus £1750 location allowance

You’re a true expert in financial reporting. You oversee accounts with integrity and pinpoint accuracy, and the other accounting professionals in your team look to you for the quality of your insight. You know accounting principles and International Reporting Standards inside and out, as well as the Government Financial Reporting Manual. So with all that in hand, what more could you do?

You’re looking for your next challenge, and ready to go even further.

We know how you feel. FCO Services are valued by government-level customers worldwide, who look to us to provide secure construction, logistics, digital solutions, and more. Protecting the UK’s interests globally, our organisation has witnessed incredible growth – but our ambitions are bigger still. With our profits set to grow from £160m to £200m in the next two years, we need to expand our Finance team to keep pace with our success and chart a course for the future.

That’s where you’ll come in as our new Head of Reporting. Part of a new wave of energetic experts, you’ll be the financial drive behind a thriving business that protects people, information, and assets across the planet. And on top of a strong sense of purpose, you’ll find a home amongst our diverse family and enjoy all the perks and pension of a Civil Service career. In short? It’s your job, bigger.

Ensure reporting for the work behind the headlines:

Our work is wide-ranging and makes a huge impact. We refurbish centuries-old embassies. We make sure government servers are safe from cyber attack. We make secure deliveries of vital supplies, needed by government bodies at home and overseas. It’s a complex offering – and you’ll be the one who oversees financial reporting across the board, supervising the standard and direction of our financial and management accounts, managing our financial reporting suite, and delivering reports to our executive board. So naturally, you’ll need to be at the top of your game when it comes to financial acumen, with at least five years experience as a qualified accountant. That aside though, you’ll also need to have an eye for the whole picture, for making decisions on complicated issues, and for providing sound judgement our senior leaders can rely on.

Lead your team to recognition from senior leaders:

Working at government level, you’ve got to be prepared to influence and drive change at all levels, challenging constructively where you need to, so that you can help us deliver a reporting service that ensures our future success. Ultimately, it’s about your vision, both for your team and for shaping our systems. You’ll build strong relationships with the colleagues around you, delegate well to meet deadlines, inspire the team to achieve exceptional standards, and set ambitions for how we can upgrade and improve our suite, our processes, and the way we work together.

Enable business change and find life-changing rewards:

You’re facing world-class challenges here – but you’ll also find incredible perks, like our Civil Service pension, free parking, and well-equipped campus, as well as a rare quality of work-life balance. You’ll leave work firmly at the office and get home on time – and if you’ve got young children, you might even take advantage of our onsite OFSTED-registered nursery. This is an inclusive, supportive team where flexible working is the norm. We’re big on diversity, big on inclusion and big on giving you whatever you need to succeed. Like we said, it’s your job bigger – and your benefits too.

All our colleagues must be security cleared to the highest level, so you will need to undergo a comprehensive vetting process before joining.
