This is an exciting, career-defining opportunity to join a highly regarded £55m t/o UK manufacturer who are on course to triple in size over the next 2 years. Based in impressive offices on the outskirts of Liverpool this is a new role created to meet increased finance team workload/business demand, to take responsibility for some of the Financial Controllers current remit - allowing him to focus on more strategic & operational areas - as well as forming part of the companies medium to long term succession planning. Operating in a highly visible, high profile role, reporting directly to the Site Financial Controller, you will be responsible for a direct team of 5 plus an indirect team of 4, with your remit including:

  • Day to day management of the finance team - ensuring duties are completed accurately and efficiently
  • Ownership of the Forecasting process - Co-ordination of the completion of annual & quarterly forecasts and subsequent re-forecasts
  • Co-Ordination of the month end - ensuring the finance team delivers timely and accurate financial & management accounts
  • Month End Consolidation and Group Reporting
  • Review of the Management Accounts
  • Preparation of the MI Pack including sales variance reports and working capital overview
  • Presentation and explanation of results to senior management and to the board
  • Variance analysis with narrative
  • Business Partnering with senior management teams including the Production Manager, General Manager, Commercial Manager and Purchasing Manager
  • Annual Budget preparation and ongoing budgetary control
  • Manufacturing Accounting - Ensuring effective control of key business drivers including scrap, efficiency, yield and headcount
  • Ensuring modern and effective financial controls, processes and procedures
  • Compliance - including SOX
  • Currency Forecasting
  • Weekly Flash Reporting
  • Balance Sheet review
  • Project Support
  • Case study approval
  • Financial modelling
  • Supporting System development and utilisation
  • Providing general cover and support to the FC
  • Additional duties dependant on the skills, experience and aspirations of the successful applicant

Applicants will be fully qualified CIMA, ACA or ACCA professionals and will have previously operated in Financial Manager or Controller role, and ideally for a UK division of a global manufacturer. You will have excellent management skills and a track record of leading & developing strong finance teams. Bringing a blend of financial & management accounting skills you will also have the commercial acumen, gravitas and personality essential to forging strong relationships with non-finance senior management and operations teams. Good MS Excel skills are essential and knowledge of SAP or a similar ERP system would be advantageous.
