Financial Accounting Manager

Reports to: Group Financial Controller

Purpose: To ensure accurate and timely reporting across a range of management accounting activities, including monthly reporting, taxation, day to day accounting, statutory accounts and finance systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Monthly Management Accounts, reporting against forecast and budget, providing variance analysis and commentary for the Monthly board pack.
  • Communicating with the FP&A team to identify cost over or under spends.
  • Monitor and record fixed asset capitalisations, including reviewing whether the policy is appropriate and is being followed. Review Assets under Construction to ensure items are treated correctly.
  • Review and prepare balance sheet reconciliations at month-end, including property prepayments and accruals.
  • Ensure intercompany reconciliations and elimination at month-end are performed each month and issues quickly resolved.
  • Lead on hedge and fx accounting including ensuring budgets are aligned to actual accounting processes
  • Lead on continual improvement in financial accounting, raising the performance of the department significantly
  • Responsible for completing National Office of Statistics returns as required.
  • Manage the year end process and ensure all statutory accounts and tax returns are filed on time. Ensure the audit is efficient and issues are communicated resolved in a timely manner.
  • To deputise for the Financial Controller where necessary.
  • Act as Finance lead for systems developments including SAP; liaise with IT and PCMS to deliver systems improvements for Finance.
  • Prepare annual PSA submission.
  • Lead and develop a small team of finance professionals

Requirements:

  • A good level of experience in a finance department in a multinational, multi-currency environment.
  • Qualified ACA/ACCA - essential
  • Be process driven but commercially focused.
  • Someone who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves to get things done as required
  • Operates a 'can do'/'we will' attitude, thinking outside of the box whenever required
  • Team player, always encouraging and being supportive
  • Attention to detail and naturally inquisitive
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Experience in retail or FMCG is preferable
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently yet collaboratively with finance team and internal business partners.
