The Opportunity:
The Metropolitan Police Service (the Met) is one of the Oldest police services in the world. The territory we serve covers 620 square miles and is home to over 8 million people.

We are recruiting for Deputy Finance Business Partners which could support a number of business groups. The Finance Business Partner is tasked with supporting the Strategic Finance Business Partner in ensuring that the Met achieves value for money and maximises value from the services it delivers while meeting the needs of the Business. This will be achieved by providing insight, decision making support, challenge and professional analytical support at both strategic and operational levels, highlighting potential risks/opportunities and identifying options to drive continuous cost reductions and performance improvement. 

Finance Business Partner Responsibilities: 

• Supporting the Strategic Finance Business Partner in providing the MPS Executive with value added and timely analysis regarding actual results and forecasts, proposing options to ensure the organisation achieves its operational goals. 
• To influence senior stakeholders within a business, achieving an appropriate balance between customer care / responsive and delivery of professional advice is key element to succeed in this position. 
• Building strong relationships with the Business Groups in order to influence and deliver value for the MPS through the implementation of the financial strategy.
• The analysis should address the commercial needs of the business and focus on identifying areas of improvements, controlling MPS spend and continually analysing critical categories of expenditure in order to help implement the financial strategy.
• Provide support for projects including business and strategic planning, investment appraisals, acquisitions, disposals and contract bids. 
• Support the maximisation of income generation activities, including developing analytics that will ensure decision makers understand relationships between cost and price and the impact on local and corporate budgets of commercial proposals.
• Work collaboratively with the commercial function to deliver cost and volume analytics to enable and support VFM on key categories with suppliers and inform the development of the Met's commercial pipeline.

The Requirements of the Finance Business Partner:

• Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, etc)
• Previous experience in a business partnering role
• Experience/exposure to business cases in line with HM treasury green book guidelines is essential.
• An ambitious and proactive finance professional, with first-class communication skills.
• Confident in advising, challenging and negotiating with people, often senior to yourself, with different backgrounds and viewpoints.
• You will have good financial and analytical skills to be able to digest large amounts of information with attention to detail when working under pressure.
