Job Summary:
A fantastic opportunity has risen for a motivated Principal Accountant to join Bristol City Council, a diverse and ambitious organisation with a £1bn+ p.a. revenue budget and £1bn capital programme.
My day-to-day:
In this Principal Accountant role you will take a lead a specific service area in the Council and take a proactive approach in managing and delivering timely financial and management accounting services; including budgeting, medium and long term financial planning, project support, forecasting, financial reporting and control.
The Principal Accountant will also participate in improvement projects and provide financial information, advice and guidance to stakeholders across the Council, supporting financial controls and procedures key to supporting financial management of the Council.
What do I need to apply?
The Principal Accountant will hold a CCAB (or equivalent) qualification, an innovative problem solver with experience of resolving technical accountancy issues within a large organisation and managing a full financial cycle. You will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work autonomously, resourcefulness and see the wider implications. A clear understanding of the operational context within which local government would also be important
We need someone who has experience of working in complex and diverse organisations and have demonstrable abilities to plan, motivate and direct the work of a diverse team of Finance staff dealing with complex accounting issues. You will need to develop, support and lead the relevant finance team and ensure they are continuously developed.
