Job Summary:

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced Finance Manager for Systems and Transformation to join Bristol City Council, a diverse and ambitious organisation with a £1bn+ p.a. revenue budget and £1bn capital programme.

My day-to-day:

The Finance Manager will have lead responsibility for reporting, analytical capability and development of our finance system. Reporting to our Senior Finance Business Partner you will lead a team that manages and continuously improves processes and controls that support the integrity and value of the data and information we use. We are planning significant investment in developing our finance system and implementing new functionality and latest system technologies of our current system.

The Finance Manager will also have a broad remit that encompasses reporting and system management; optimising and developing financial systems; and management accounting.

What do I need to apply?

The Finance Manager will hold a CCAB (or equivalent) qualification with post qualification experience, an innovative problem solver with significant experience of Unit4 Business World (Agresso) system or equivalent financial system. You will have the up to date knowledge of local government finance, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and accounting practices and know how they are applied to the Council’s financial systems.

You’ll have experience in providing confident financial advice, appropriately stressed tested to inform decision making, leading on financial aspect of transformation projects and capital programmes, supporting the long-term vision within the constraints of short, medium and long term financial resources.

We need someone that has extensive practical experience of using spreadsheets and financial systems in the manipulation of data to develop financial models and information systems. You will have experience of supporting the resolution of technical accountancy issues within a large organisation, utilising system tools available and reporting for complex budget management (revenue or capital) through a full financial cycle. You will have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in a written format to establish excellent working relationships with colleagues and customers and have experience in developing and leading a team.
