You will be responsible for overseeing a small team of finance assistants who administer the personal day to day finances of this unique business. It will be imperative that you are able to fulfil the responsibilities personally of the finance assistants you will be managing.

Client Details

Unique business running the finances for a small number of entities which could include limited companies and partnerships within the property, retail, wholesale and consultancy sectors.

Description

You will be expected to:

  • Ensure all finance functions and accounting records are maintained and management accounts prepared accurately and in a timely manner
  • Prepare CIS and VAT returns and ensure these are submitted on time
  • Review the bookkeeping and payment runs of the finance assistants and provide constructive feedback
  • Create statutory accounts with supporting year-end audit files where required for internal and external audit review
  • Ensure all entities are compliant with all relevant tax and company laws
  • Undertake project work as required
  • Ensure that your CPD record is well maintained
  • Provide holiday and sickness cover for other team members when required
  • Report to the Finance Team Supervisor

Profile

We are looking for an individual who:

    • Is ACCA/CIMA qualified with at least three years of relevant accounting/audit experience, ideally working in a practice or an audit environment. Would potentially consider QBE
    • Has experience of managing a small team (desirable)
    • Has experience of VAT, with knowledge of CIS being an advantage
    • Has integrity, discretion and the ability to deal with confidential information
    • Has excellent administration and communication skills (both written and verbal with attention to detail)
    • Is tactful, diplomatic and approachable, with the ability to deal assertively with a wide range of people
    • Has excellent IT skills, a sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience of using accounting software
    • Is flexible and willing to learn
    • Enjoys working on their own or as part of a wider team, being a team player is key
