Howarth Morris are looking to recruit an experienced Service Charge Accountant on a permanent basis for rapidly expanding Property Management business based in impressive offices in Warrington.

Role Purpose:

Responsible for the annual service charge review providing accurate and timely information to Customers and Leaseholders. Maintaining the Service Charge Accounting model to ensure it accurately reflects the appropriate service charge expenditure and the apportionment methodology. Responsible for line management of the Service Charge Assistant and on-going development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for annual service charge review providing accurate and timely information to Service Charge Customers and Leaseholders..
  • Ensure financial information is correctly accounted for in the general ledger in line with reporting timetables.
  • Provide commentary on the service charges costs and income for inclusion in Board packs and reports to Senior Management.
  • Oversee the completion of the relevant monthly balance sheet reconciliations in line with the month end timetable.
  • Provide Finance Support on Service Charges for the group.
  • Provide accurate and timely financial information, guidance and support.
  • Support the development and maintenance of an efficient and effective accountancy function for the Group.
  • Contribute to the overall delivery of accountancy services and to make a proactive contribution to developing and improving services provided.
  • Provide financial training and support for all staff who are involved in the procurement of services that may impact on the service charge expenditure.
  • Project manage system and process development programmes relating to service and support charges.
  • Liaise with internal audit teams and Tax advisors in relation to systems, procedures and control processes.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Part Qualified or Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA, CIPFA, CAI or ICAS).
  • Operate collaboratively at manager level to take collective responsibility for overall performance.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation for the Group and its members.
  • Build positive relationships with internal customers across the Group.
  • Housing/Property experience essential.
