The finance function is a key partner in the management and development of the business, and this role offers an opportunity to be involved with a wide range of business issues and projects on a regular basis.

THE MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT ROLE

We need a Management Accountant to ensure the smooth and consistent operations of our finance department.

The role requires an individual who has had previous management accounting experience, ideally in a retail environment.

Responsibilities include monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations.

Other key parts of the role involve maintenance of cashflow records, assistance in the budgeting process and ad hoc reports as required by management.

The role would have responsibility for a small team of bright and capable individuals.

The ideal candidate must be personable, have good management skills, be comfortable with systems, and have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.

The role reports directly to the Finance Director and is based at the company's head office.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS OF THE MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT

Daily

Responsibility for maintaining the accuracy of the accounting information

Assistance in the management and direction of departmental staff

Being a point of contact for the business on all finance matters

Monthly

Detailed preparation of monthly management accounts with detailed analysis

Budget variance analysis

Forecast preparation and review

Cashflow update

Review of new store performance and return on investment

Annually

Preparation of audit pack

Ad hoc

Financial review and analysis as required

Interaction with all business departments on all finance matters

Project work as required

Other

Assisting in management of payroll for stores and head office

Key Skills

Excel and Microsoft office

Sage accounting software

General knowledge of payroll

Retail experience and commercially orientated
