A leading Media Business require a 12month, part-time Financial Accountant on a maternity cover. The role will support the Group Financial Controller in managing finance and accounting operations across the Group companies. The role has a unique perspective as it includes elements of corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, financial planning as well as maintenance of internal control policies and procedures and a strong control environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Financial accounting
- Responsible for the monthly reporting of group holding companies
- Support the year end Group consolidation and annual financial statements process including drafting financial accounts and related notes
- Involvement in the timetabling and preparation of annual budgets/forecasts
- Be a key contact for the auditors and tax advisors as part of the annual financial audit; answering queries and providing documentation
- Deputise where necessary for the Group Financial Controller
- Regulation & compliance
- Preparation of quarterly VAT returns as well as other tax returns for group companies
- Responsible for insurance returns of the Group which includes liaising with the business to gather relevant information
- Providing analysis and information for the Group's Research & Development submissions
- Key contact for information in respect of UK and US tax and compliance return
- Maintenance of exchange rates in all finance related systems
- Creation & maintenance of budget templates and other systems generated templates as required by the finance team
- Adopt a business partnering approach when interacting with key stakeholders, providing ad hoc analysis and modelling to support decision making and projects across all Group companies
- The ideal candidate will have attention to detail, a logical approach to managing and prioritising their day and workload and have experience using SUN Systems & Q&A analysis module
- Ability to communicate at all levels, both written and verbal
- Strong IT skills, including Excel
- Experience in management accounting and FP&A which include all aspects of account preparation and analysis, costs control, planning and budgeting
- Interest in financial accounting and controls which would include statutory accounts preparation & tax reporting
- A qualified accountant ACA/ACCA (or other overseas equivalent)
