Legal Cashier Role Description

We are looking for a Legal Cashier to join our Chelmsford office on a 12-month FTC, working as part of the Cashiering team to help provide a highly effective and efficient Financial Operations service. As part of this, your main responsibilities will include the accurate and timely processing of day to day transactions, daily review & allocation of bank statement entries, , ensuring the lodgement of client account cheques, reconciling and posting bulk receipts against billing bordereaux, managing disbursement ledgers, managing the firm's monthly AP run, as well as supporting in other tasks across the Finance Operations team. Our ideal candidate must have prior legal experience and full knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules, cashiering processes, and VAT regulations, as well as experience of working with online banking systems and Word & Excel, while a working knowledge of Elite 3E is highly desirable.

Key Tasks

  • Accurate and timely processing of day to day transactions through firm's office and client accounts
  • Management of firm’s various fee/settlement funds in line with client, market and regulatory requirements
  • Processing client to office transfers in line with jurisdictional Law Society rules and regulations
  • Liaising with Credit Control to ensure prompt identification of unallocated office receipts
  • Tracking and writing back of uncashed office cheques as required by firm’s policy
  • Sample checking and payment of weekly staff expenses via Chrome River Expense
