Job overview:

Working independently to support the respective business areas the Finance Business Partner will provide a holistic approach to support the whole organisation. You will support one of the following business areas:

  • Capital & Assets
  • Development
  • Neighbourhoods & Corporate Services
  • Property Services

Working in Partnership with the areas of the business to achieve the Group’s strategic objectives through robust financial performance management.

The job holder will:

  • Provide guidance and support to the relevant Services Budget Holders and Managers to enable effective financial management
  • Provide quality, timely financial management information and ensure that comprehensive financial controls are applied within the respective Services
  • Prepare and present effective financial analysis to allow your Service area to understand its relative financial performance to demonstrate VFM
  • Prepare financial reports to support MSV in making excellent decisions in line with the business plan and by ensuring where relevant , that the asset management investment/ business opportunities and ventures are thoroughly modelled under a number of factual and realistic scenarios and assumptions are tested to ensure that accurate decisions can be made.
  • Support the effective financial appraisals of investment programmes.
  • Provide financial information and guidance to support bids for additional funding.
  • Ensure that financial controls are implemented and applied throughout the Group in accordance with the Delegatory Framework, and that all reporting deadlines are met.
  • Support internal audit work, maintaining your relevant areas of the Group Asset & Liability Register and deliver services within the Group’s Risk Management Framework ensuring that risks are managed.
  • Deputise for the Senior Business Partner as required.

As a Finance Business Partner, you will act as a conduit between finance to the individual services, by developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote a culture of openness, challenge and financial integrity. It is essential that you keep up to date with changes and best practice in relevant legislation and regulatory issues, recommending and implementing changes in policies and procedures as required. Additionally, you will support the Group auditors when required.

Person overview

You will be a fully Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA / CIPFA) with a proven track record of business partnering gained within a complex and regulated sector, ideally within Social Housing but other similar sectors are equally relevant.

With a natural ability to plan, prioritise and organise effectively to meet changing needs you will have a sound understanding and experience of financial controls, policies and procedures. You must be capable of delivering effective financial management, planning and budgetary control coupled with the ability to analyse complex data to produce reports and deliver information to a range of audiences.

Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, both verbal and written are essential, as you will need to communicate effectively in a variety of settings. You must be able to lead, motivate and inspire in line with MSV’s values and culture, as well as acting as an ambassador for both finance and the organisation as a whole.

Proficient in using systems you must be an advanced user of Excel, possess knowledge and use of finance and feeder systems, relevant processes, dependencies and interfaces to enable you to work on continuous improvement and deliver a modern and innovative service to the organisation.
