A unique Senior Finance Manager position has become available within our Aviation team, which sits within our Finance network peer group and supports projects that fall somewhat outside of the ordinary, with the opportunity to contribute to saving lives and making our coastlines a safer place.

Actively, our team are working on the Second Generation Search and Rescue Programme contract, which will enable us to maintain and improve the UK’s search and rescue capability into the 2030s. This is a project that sat on the Government Major Projects portfolio when last run, gaining the same type of exposure as huge projects such as ‘Cross Rail’; so provides an unrivalled opportunity to widely showcase your skillset, providing excellent potential for future career development.

If successful, you will be a key facilitator of decisions about Aviation procurements and contracts; offering expert knowledge directly to the Aviation Programme Director here at MCA. As Senior Finance Manager, you will be focussed on delivering value for money with best interests at heart, being entrusted to make high risk, critical decisions on behalf of the Business. The Senior Finance Manager will role model idealistic behaviours whilst liaising regularly with high profile external financial advisors and leaders across government.

Key Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities of the Senior Finance Manager role will include but not be limited to:

  • Negotiation of contractual prices and conditions;
  • Drafting and finalisation of the financial case of business cases;
  • Appointment and management of financial advisors, where justified;
  • Constructive engagement with relevant departmental Centres of Excellence (CoEs).

About you:

You must be a Qualified accountant from a member of the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (CCAB) or international equivalent, CIMA or significant relevant financial experience.

To be successful you must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, being confident in building strong dependable relationships with others whilst providing accurate and timely advice to Senior DfT officials and Ministers.

You will have a sound understanding of all things Finance, with the ability to demonstrate leadership abilities. You will be proficient in the use of computer systems such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. You will confidently challenge and work proactively to press for solutions to problems.
