Senior Client Accountant - Property Investor / Developer. OUR CLIENT is a prestigious property developer/investor who own and develop both commercial, mixed-use and high-end residential properties across London. As the company continues to expand, they have now instructed us to recruit a Senior Client Accountant who will be reporting into the Head of Client Accounting.

THE ROLE of the successful candidate will assume the following responsibilities:

  • Managing the entire year-end audit/certification process for your dedicated portfolio, consisting of complex and high-end clients.
  • Working alongside a trainee client accountant to prepare and issue the audit file to external auditors so that they may produce the final set of year end accounts, including service charge accounts and statutory accounts where necessary.
  • Preparing monthly management accounts if it is a necessary requirement by the client.
  • Preparing and analysing the audit findings on an Extended Trial Balance for the external audits to review and test.
  • Preparing voids schedules/budget forecasts for our clients on an ad - hoc basis.
  • Producing variance reports, budget comparisons with detail of any large variance.
  • Reviewing on a quarterly basis with Directors/Managers to ensure correct cost allocations.
  • Responding to subsequent audit queries from external accountants and our client.
  • Preparing and issuing Section 20B notices as and when required.
  • Presenting year end accounts to the Directors/Managers for approval and signing off.
  • Overseeing the distribution of service charge accounts to leaseholders.
  • Co-ordinating the year-end adjustments and reconcile to final service charge accounts.
  • Overseeing and monitoring the work of the Trainee Client Accountant dedicated to the portfolio for the production of budgets, demands and processes related to service charge accounts.
  • Preparing of the apportionment of final expenditure between lessees (in accordance with the terms of the lease) compared to service charges demanded on account, showing the balancing charges or credits due to each lessee and the calculation of landlord's voids.
  • Preparing monthly VAT reports and summaries for forward transmission to the group client accounts team.

THE PERSON - To apply, you MUST possess at least 2 years' of experience working in Property accounting and ideally be studying towards an accounting qualification - ACCA/AAT/CIMA. You must also have relevant service charge experienced gained from a similar role as well as knowledge of Extended Trial Balances and any exposure to residential or commercial developments and setting up new properties would be of additional advantage. Also knowledge in Property Management Systems such as QUBE/PROPMAN/YARDI as well as Excel would be beneficial. The successful candidate should also have a 'can do' attitude as this person will be working in a fast driven environment.
