Our Private Equity backed client is a newly formed group comprising two recently purchased companies that are market leaders in their field.  This group provides increasingly innovative solutions that embrace digitalisation, supported by emerging technology.  With operations in London and Europe the group has growth on the agenda and planned acquisitions.

To assist growth a vacancy has been created for a high calibre Group Financial Controller to head up, build and recruit a group function based in Central London.  Reporting to the Group CFO the role will take the lead in financial management of the Group and UK business, contributing as a member of the Senior Management team and providing leadership operationally.  Pivotal to the role is integration of future acquisitions and involvement with Due Diligence and future transactions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Recruit, build, manage and develop a best-in-class group finance function, providing visible and proactive leadership of the finance function to ensure the team are highly engaged and motivated
  • Play a lead role in the transformation of the group finance function.  This would involve implementing a fully integrated system that will meet the reporting requirements of the business and ensuring that the business is scalable both from a finance and operational perspective.
  • To identify and develop suitable KPIs to measure performance within the group, undertaking a full review of operational procedures and business critical issues (both operationally and in relation to business development) to identify effective measurement tools and relevant targets that drive revenue growth and increase profitability
  • Ensure there is enough control and structure to cope with future acquisitions and integrations
  • The maintenance of accurate group accounting records and preparation of financial statements for audit
  • To develop and maintain robust, reliable and value-added financial forecasts and reporting processes
  • The maintenance of policies and procedures to ensure effective and robust internal controls
  • Work with the Group CFO to support strategic initiatives, reviews and address investor requests
  • Production of consolidated group reporting (including statutory accounts) and liaison with external auditors
  • Participating in the senior management team's collective profit and loss responsibility
  • Develop and maintain a robust cash management system which effectively manages working capital control
  • Management of the banking relationship
  • Some travel required to international offices

Key requirements for the role:

  • You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with a minimum of 4 years post qualification experience
  • You must have experience of managing staff and a track record of developing first in class finance teams
  • Strong accounting/controlling experience coupled with the ability and desire to step into the CFO role
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills - equally happy presenting to board directors, external professional advisors and the management team
  • Ability to work autonomously and own all finance issues
  • High level analytical skills. Ability to understand the data flows behind the systems, turn transactional data into meaningful management information with spreadsheet or database tools.
  • Able to build relationships across the organisation and accustomed to working effectively with external advisors
  • A self-starter, flexible, trustworthy, reliable, driven and hardworking
  • Committed to making a difference, and motivated by working in a can-do fast pace Private Equity environment
  • A committed team player with a strong commercial outlook and a hands-on approach
