Totum are excited to be working on a key strategic finance hire for a top 20 UK law firm which is looking to appoint a Head of Partnership Tax. The Head of Partnership Tax has responsibility for tax across all jurisdictions and for management of the tax issues associated with interaction between different jurisdictions. Managing a team of three, the role has oversight of all tax-related matters impacting the firm in the UK and in its extensive international network.

The Head of Partnership Tax will lead the in-house tax function and be responsible for direct tax matters of all vehicles in the grouping worldwide, representing all vehicles in the grouping across all tax regimes worldwide when dealing with tax authorities and other external stakeholders. The role holder will advise on and implement initiatives to optimise the group's tax position and be alert to forthcoming changes in tax laws and practices across the group, communicating the commercial and strategic impact that these may have on the worldwide grouping as well as identifying tax planning opportunities where applicable. The Head of Partnership Tax will assess, handle and advise on the tax implications of changes to the group's structure internationally. The role also has oversight of the personal tax and social security compliance for individual partners and tax reserving in accordance with the group's members agreements, ensuring that they are adequately attended to indirect tax and employer compliance obligations are adequately attended to elsewhere within the organisation, albeit outside the in-house tax team.

Applicants should hold either an accountancy (ACA / CIMA / ACCA) and / or tax qualification (ATT or CTA) and have demonstrable experience in senior-level partnership tax positions. Alongside the technical expertise, the ability to communicate with a senior stakeholder group of mixed understanding of tax is integral to the success of the role.
