About Our Client

Red Door Ventures (RDV) is a commercial residential developer with a social purpose, established in 2014. It is wholly owned by the London Borough of Newham (LBN) and has three main objectives:

  • Deliver a significant financial return back to its sole shareholder and funder, LBN
  • Directly deliver 50% of its development pipeline as genuinely affordable homes for the residents of Newham
  • Improve the quality of homes and communities in the Borough though quality design and management

RDV currently has 156 homes in management. It has just started the construction of a further 232 homes and by March 2019, this number will increase to more than 500.

Over the next 10 years, RDV have a target of developing more than 350 homes per year and are committed to 50% of these being genuinely affordable to the residents of Newham.

Job Description

  • Oversee the accounts payable function to ensure our suppliers are paid on time.
  • Ensure all staff are paid correctly and on time, and lead on onboarding of new staff members.
  • Lead on the annual budgeting process to ensure the business meets its objectives.
  • Influence the company's short, medium and long-term strategy by producing comprehensive management reports, forecasts and KPIs, for all budget holders and senior staff.
  • Attend key management meetings with the shareholder and funder where necessary.
  • Prepare the consolidated year end statutory accounts and audit files, and lead on the external audit.
  • Assist the Finance Director in managing the Group's cash flow.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual business plan.
  • Lead on the Group's VAT matters, including liaising with expert advisors and HMRC.
  • Assist the Finance Director in the Group's other tax matters.
  • Ensure the company's Enterprise Resource System (ERP) is maintained and delivers what the business needs.
  • Implement and maintain strong internal controls to ensure robust financial management.
  • Manage and motivate the Business and Systems Accountant.
  • Undertake any other duties within your capabilities as may be reasonably required.

The Successful Applicant

Essential:

  • CCAB (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) qualified with post qualification experience.
  • Proven experience operating as Financial Controller/Senior Finance Manager
  • Proven experience working in a commercial business-facing or business-partnering finance role in a complex organisation with large expenditure/project budgets.
  • Proven experience of leading an audit process.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process.
  • Proven experience of leading an annual budgeting process.
  • Experience of reviewing and analysing financial information and delivering comprehensive management reports.
  • Able to challenge, engage, influence and add value at a senior operational level and within the wider senior finance team.
  • Good attention to detail with an ability to understand wider picture and an ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload and projects to meet agreed deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communications and the ability to present effectively to varying levels in an organisation.
  • A good understanding of IT systems used in real estate management and development (e.g. Yardi, Qube, etc.).
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Desirable:

  • Experience of real estate / development accounting.
  • Experience of treasury management.
  • Experience of financial statement preparation.
