Head of Finance | Fast Growth Food Manufacturer | Sussex

The client

Harmonic are delighted to be working exclusively with a fast growth food manufacturer on the hire of their first Head of Finance role. Based in the heart of Sussex, this business has been a pioneer at the forefront of industry growth and has won prestigious awards across the globe for their products and success as well as being endorsed by celebrities. The business has their sights set on further international and UK expansion as they have invested heavily in a brand-new production facility to support this growth.

The role

Reporting directly into the CEO, the role of Head of Finance is a newly-created position. While the role encompasses a broad cross-section of duties, it focuses in the most part upon two aspects: supercharging the quality of commercial financial insight provided to the Board to aid strategic decision-making, and owning the day-to-day business as usual finance activities. This role also has the opportunity to develop in to a Finance Director role in the mid-long term.

Core duties:

  • Production of monthly, fully-reconciled management accounts and commentary (presented to: Bank, Board & Senior management team).
  • Monthly cashflow management.
  • Monthly stock reconciliation and reporting to third parties.
  • Stock valuations and overseeing the management of stock takes.
  • Cost analysis by SKU (i. utilising stock's product and service identification code).
  • Management of the budgeting process, including finance business partnering with departmental managers to prepare their budgets.
  • Review of monthly departmental budgets with managers, including analysis and challenging of variances etc.
  • Finance business partnering with managers to produce their departmental rolling five-year forecasts, providing the financial modelling required.
  • Improving, maintaining and sensitising the five-year forecasting modelling.
  • Development of automated KPI reporting suites.
  • Acting as financial lead on all Company projects.
  • Completion of ONS returns.
  • Providing senior management with ad-hoc financial information to support their business decisions.

What we need to see

  • CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualified Accountant (Any PQ applicants will be considered)
  • At least 3 years' experience in a Commercial Finance / FP&A role.
  • Advanced excel (pivot tables, V-Lookups etc).
  • Recent experience of hands-on working capital management.
  • Direct experience of managing the month-end close process.
  • A deep commercial understanding within at least one of the following industries: Food & Beverage production and distribution, Agriculture, FMCG/Retail, Manufacturing, Engineering.

Salary: Up to £60,000 plus private healthcare, bonus, flexible working and a personal development budget upon completion of probation

Start Date: ASAP (can wait for 3 months)
