Property Client Accountant - Residential - OUR CLIENT are an established property expert offering complete property management services to RMCs, RMTs, Freeholders and Property Developers. They ensure all of their clients' assets consisting of residential and mixed-use blocks are professionally and expertly managed.

THE ROLE: They have now asked us to recruit a Portfolio/Property Accountant to join their experienced team, who will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance of and the accuracy and integrity of the accounting records of a designated portfolio of properties.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing of year end accounts including allocation of costs.
  • Organising audit, post audit journals and respond to internal and external queries.
  • Preparing trial balances as appropriate.
  • Approving draft accounts, liaising with the board and property manager.
  • Responsibility for audit process, liaising with external auditors and filing with the relevant property team.
  • Distributing final accounts and ensuring statutory accounts are filed with Companies House and Inland Revenue.
  • Managing surplus and deficit charges onto lessee accounts.
  • Responding to financial queries from external clients and lessees.
  • Preparing budget templates, including uploading onto the system.
  • Managing service charge demands and ad hoc costs to tenants as required.
  • Preparing management reports on a monthly or quarterly basis.
  • Assisting property managers in relation to additional financial queries, projects or information as required.
  • Preparing VAT returns if applicable.
  • Reviewing handover information from previous agents and set up new clients on system.
  • Monitoring the cash flow and manage outstanding creditors on regularly basis.
  • Accounting for or oversee Developer Set Up Funding.
  • Preparing and control void service charges.

THE PERSON: The successful candidate will possess a recognised accounting qualification (Full or part qualified - CIMA / ACCA / AAT) or qualified by experience. You will have experience within the property industry and ideally have advanced Excel skills and a working knowledge of residential / property accounting systems. You will also possess strong attention to detail and quality standards, good level of written and verbal communication and good analysis and problem solving skills.
