The business is a fast paced market leader within their field and have a group turnover of around £80-£100m. The business is listed and are relocating their group finance function to Sheffield. The business works across multiple sectors including banking, oil & gas, transport & a number of other sectors.

The business is completely unique in its market and are an extremely ambitious group targeting significant growth in the near future who are looking to appoint a financial accountant to their team. They have a state of the art office with a fantastic culture on top and are at the forefront of their market.


Job Purpose:


To manage and prepare the plc Company accounts in line with monthly reporting schedule and statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Internal reporting

  • Prepare and manage the plc monthly management accounts within the reporting schedule
  • Monthly plc cost re-forecast
  • Review of fortnightly plc cashflow forecast
  • Review of plc VAT return
  • Preparation of plc annual budget and support to other divisions
  • Develop and streamline accounts process and reporting



External reporting

  • Half year and Year end plc accounts analysis and liaison with external auditors
  • Provide support to the Financial Controller in preparing the consolidated half year and full year group accounts, in particular in relation to the plc Company accounts.



Employee related

  • Preparation of the monthly plc payroll and review of related journals
  • Preparation of annual P11Ds.



Share schemes

  • Manage the financial aspects of the company share schemes, including accounting of these and related tax returns



Other responsibilities

  • General support for Financial Controller and wider Head Office team as required.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Qualified (or nearly qualified) ACA/ACCA with excellent technical and accounting skills
  • Good IT skills and aptitude (MS Office, Sage 50 Accounts and Cognos are used extensively).
  • Recent and relevant experience in financial reporting in a listed company environment would be beneficial.

  • Candidates will be on salary around the £35/45k level
