Accounts Assistant - Part time

THE COMPANY:

Brewster Partners are recruiting an experienced Accounts Assistant, on a part time basis, for a well established business based in Sheffield. Close to the motorway and public transport links they are commutable from Barnsley, Rotherham and Chesterfield.

THE JOB:

The main purpose of the role is to provide accurate and effective assistant to the finance team. Reporting to the Financial Controller duties will include:

• Accurately, prepare and maintain accounting documents and records.
• Preparing bank deposits, general ledger postings and statements.
• Reconciling accounts in a timely manner.
• Entering key data of financial transactions onto database daily.
• Researching, tracking and restoring accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies.
• Informing management and compile reports/summaries on activity areas.
• Function in accordance with established standards, procedures and applicable laws.
• Verify the accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents or records.
• Updating and maintaining accounting journals, ledgers and other records detailing financial business transactions (e., disbursements, expense vouchers, receipts, accounts payable). Entering data onto computer system using defined computer programs.
• Reconciling records with internal company employees and management, or external vendors or customers.
• Recommending actions to resolve discrepancies.
• Undertaking all other reasonable work requests to support / assist the smooth running of the department.

THE PERSON:

• Previous experience is essential.
• You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• You must be IT literate with working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets.
• You must be self motivated and enthusiastic with a flexible approach.
• You will be a team player but able to work on your own initiative.
