The Finance Manager is a position based with a business that seeks to alleviate poverty in poor & fragile countries in Africa by providing risk capital and expertise to develop commercially viable investment opportunities into infrastructure projects and developments.  They continually balance commercial viability and impact by undertaking truly innovative projects that help local communities.

Due to a doubling of pipeline and increase in projects under development they have a newly created position for a Finance Manager to sit within their corporate team.  The role reports to the Head of Finance but supports a range of projects and opportunities. You will be responsible for advising on and quality assuring financial governance and reporting within project companies and integrating results into management accounts.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Provide accounting services to the Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) and assets where these companies do not have in house accounting teams
  • Manage the relationship with accounting functions/resources within the SPVs and assets and be the first point of contact for all financial reporting and accounting issues
  • Review and challenge cashflow forecasts and financial statements of the SPVs and assets and incorporate these into the forecasts and management accounts.
  • Report and monitor key variances.
  • Ensure timely submission of financial statements and tax returns to Group
  • Value SPVs and operating assets (in conjunction with the Business Development and Asset Management teams) and secure CIO approval of these valuations
  • Model long term business plans, including cash flow, profit & loss and balance sheet statements.
  • Occasional travel out to the various projects.

Your Experience:

  • You will be a qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
  • Experience of working within a finance function preparing and quality assuring financial statements and management accounts
  • Have an interest in infrastructure such as renewable power as well as supporting development within Africa
  • Demonstrative integrity and professionalism
