Totum are delighted to be working with a boutique top 100 UK law firm in its search for a Finance Director. Working closely with the Management Board, this is a high-profile role in a firm that is reviewing and improving all aspects of its business service offering. Heading up the finance function and acting as the executive team's internal trusted advisor for finance-related matters, this is a great opportunity for a qualified accountant with broad leadership experience in professional services partnership environments to join an ambitious law firm with a unique, values-driven culture.

Reporting into the COO and Management Board, the Finance Director will be driving positive change within the finance function. The role requires a strong leader with the ability to create a cohesive, collaborative environment, pulling together the team to work harmoniously on improving all that they do - from stream-lining day-to-day processes to efficiently managing the firm's annual finance cycle to producing incisive management reports . Devising and delivering a Finance plan that meets the needs of the business will be key to the role's success. Transforming the finance team from a back-office function into more of a business-facing, commercially-minded team is ultimately what the COO and management board are hoping to achieve. There is an increasing appetite from the business to be provided with insightful, up-to-date management information and analysis to allow well-informed commercial decisions to be made at a practice group and a firmwide level. The Finance Director will lead the project to enhance the firm's current management reporting and analysis. As well as delivering this at a Board level, the Finance Director will also be involved in the training and coaching of Partners and fee earning team members in how to run their businesses as commercially as possible. As would be expected, there is also a key regulatory element to the role and the position holder will take on some of the COFA responsibilities, will oversee the annual external audit, maintain the partners' accounts and profit-share arrangements and lead the relationship with third part suppliers including banking, tax, audit and other external finance-related advisors.

This role presents a fantastic opportunity for an individual to join a firm already on a pathway of internal process improvement and to play a key role in the continuation of that journey. Applicants should have the drive and resilience to be able to help the finance function and wider business to adopt best practice, playing a lead role in enhancing the team's internal perception, supporting the Partners and other business senior leadership team in upskilling their commercial acumen and taking on the traditional stewardship role of the firm from a financial perspective. This position requires a qualified accountant with experience of presenting and influencing at a board level. Previous experience of working in a professional services partnership environment in a senior leadership role must be demonstrable on CVs.
