Finance Director | Manchester | £80,000-£90,000, equity, bonus, commensurate benefits | Omni-channel retail

Finance Director opportunity to join a rapidly growing PE backed omni-channel retailer based in Manchester. This Finance Director role is an integral part of the UK business, and will be an influential member of the senior leadership team, working closely with the PE backers and owners.

The business operates across multiple channels in a rapidly growing market. As the businesses is expected to grow quickly, it is important for the FD to implement key controls, processes and procedures to ensure that as growth is realised, the foundations of the business are sound and attractive to a future buyer.

About the role

This is a traditional Finance Director role, meaning that it truly covers all elements of this SME finance function. Whilst there are commercial and business partnering elements, it is more pressing that the technical aspects of finance are in order. Challenge of existing systems, process, procedure and control will be amongst the first deliverables. The successful appointment will have a keen eye for detail, and strong technical leaning which might have been gleaned from a successful practice background. As this is a PE opportunity, first class reporting, communication and presentation is expected.

Key responsibilities

  • Overall management, coaching and development of a small finance team
  • Challenge of existing systems, process, procedure and control
  • Review of monthly accounts and performance with the MD and PE backers
  • Oversee Cash flow forecasts, working capital management and plan accordingly
  • Decision support, commercial finance, budget & forecast
  • Treasury management including invoice financing, banking relationships
  • Management of audit, insurance and legal relationships

Person profile

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualified (5+ years PQE)
  • There will be a strong leaning towards corporate finance experience gained within a large practice, as well as private equity experience
  • Experience within a fast paced omni-channel retail environment would be highly beneficial
  • Ability to implement a strong culture of best practice within finance
  • Previous experience managing all elements of a finance function
  • Energy, enthusiasm and motivation to facilitate change and challenge existing practices
  • Demonstrable experience of working with senior stakeholders in and out of finance
