My client is an award-winning Affordable Housing Association in Derbyshire with ambitious plans to grow and flourish. This is an exciting time to join the organisation and be part of a successful team. Due to their growth they are looking to recruit a talented individual for a new position of Interim Head of Financial Accounting. 


Main Purpose of Role

Ensure the Group and individual members receive the financial data required to help achieve improved service delivery, maintaining a strong partnership approach in support of operational teams delivering effortless customer experiences.

Ensure key stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, funders and HMRC, receive high quality information, as required, to ensure the Group is not exposed to risks such as, litigation, winding up orders, downgrading of viability and / or supervision. 
 
Key Accountabilities 

Financial Control

  • Ensure risk of inadequate cash liquidity in individual Companies and the Group is effectively monitored and controlled.
  • Lead on the maintenance of accounting records, procedures and systems
  • Establish and maintain financial procedures
  • Ensure that financial systems comply with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Statutory Accounts and quarterly management accounts
  • Short and medium term cash flow forecasts
  • Review of control account and bank account reconciliations 

Service Delivery

  • Provide senior managerial leadership for Finance and Accounting 
  • Lead the financial accounting function
  • Provide appropriate reporting systems to the Director of Finance and Group Finance and Resources Director.
  • Provide guidance and advice on the administration of various pension schemes.
  • Accountable for payroll function
  • Oversee the administration of VAT.

Finance, Control & Procurement

  • Ensure compliance
  • Ensure the most effective procurement strategies are applied
  • Monitor and control expenditure in accordance with the budget procedures


Knowledge, Skills & Experience     
             

  • Relevant professional qualification or qualified by experience to equivalent level
  • Recognised accounting qualification (CCAB, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Experience of leading, managing, developing and empowering staff within a customer-focused and changing environment
  • Proven experience of managing a significant finance function
  • Experience of producing statutory and management accounts and consolidated group accounts
  • Experience of implementing financial systems, procedures, internal controls and treasury management
