Financial Controller

fdu is recruiting a Permanent Financial Controller for a Private Equity backed technology client (£10m t/o) based in Central London who are planning an IPO (AIM listing). Reporting to the CFO, the Financial Controller will manage all day to day financial activity, oversee a small team and be capable of operating up and down the scale of finance. You must be able to demonstrate the ability / potential to step up and support the CFO / Board / PE Partner in pursuit of the AIM listing (IPO) as and when required. Our client is at a very exciting point in terms of their evolution, they are planning further expansion both in the UK and Internationally, leading to an AIM market listing (IPO).

As the new Financial Controller your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as a key point of contact for requests for information from the CEO and Private Equity Investor (as well as the CFO).
  • Preparing monthly management accounts, the first draft of the Board pack and year-end audit files.
  • Managing the budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis process.
  • Improving management reporting systems alongside reviewing controls and processes; implementing changes where necessary to improve efficiencies.
  • Overseeing accounts payable and receivable activity.
  • Controlling the monthly payroll.
  • Manage external relationships with the Private Equity Investor, banks, auditors and lawyers.

To be successful in your application for this Financial Controller position you will be a qualified Accountant. You will either have qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ACA) in practice (Big 4, Top 10, Top 20) or via a graduate CIMA training program. Post qualification you must have gained experience in a position of Financial Control / Divisional Financial Control.

  • Academically strong with a high degree of intelligence.
  • The ability to interact with a variety of senior level stakeholders on a wide range of accounting and commercial topics.
  • Financial Control / Financial Management experience; demonstrable experience in the delivery of statutory, internal and external reporting.
  • Impeccable accuracy and attention to detail; able to oversee a transactional accounting function, ‘diving in’ to help when necessary.
  • Strong IT skills – Excel and Xero.
  • Longevity in previous roles is essential as are superb communication and presentation skills

Salary level: £70,000-£90,000 per annum
