Assistant UK Financial Controller

Elevation Recruitment Group are pleased to be working with a leading global manufacturing and distribution business based in Sheffield as they look to recruit a Group Financial Accountant for their UK head office operation. Currently turning over approximately £50-60 million, the business continues to expand and develop and has exciting plans for the future, so this is a great time to join the firm.

The purpose of this role is to be responsible for all monthly reporting, including management accounts and cash flow forecasting, and leading the financial planning and budgeting processes, as well as working with Heads of Department to analyse any discrepancies between the budget and forecasts. The successful candidate will be responsible for the production of all regulatory and statutory reporting, driving process improvements and assisting with the management of a small team.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

*Responsible for the timely and accurate production of the monthly management accounts and reporting within tight deadlines
*Responsible for monthly balance sheet reporting and perform/review balance sheet reconciliations
*Critique of existing financial models and the production of new improved financial models for monthly management accounts, cash flow and budget reporting
*Project management of the annual budget and quarterly forecast process; taking full ownership of the accuracy of overhead forecasts and supporting the Heads of Departments in managing and understanding their budgets
*Management of the Group and subsidiary statutory accounts and tax/VAT compliance, including the preparation of all statutory accounts and tax filings
*Involvement in a project to assess the implication of IFRS 15: Revenue from Contracts with Customers; ensuring that the business and Board are provided with timely feedback on material implications and reporting requirements
*Main external audit contact - ensuring that audited statutory accounts are produced in line with statutory and Board requirements and that the audit process is managed efficiently
*Responsible for treasury management including:
-Preparation and analysis of weekly/monthly cash flow forecasting, highlighting potential issues and opportunities for cash generation
-Review of weekly/monthly bank reconciliations
-Management of commercial banking relationships
*Management of the Accounts Payable teams; with SMART objective set for direct reports and ensure that effective systems and processes are developed, implemented and are fully complied with to partner the business, to drive change and sustained profitable growth in the business
*Support the Group Financial Controller and CFO in producing financial information for external stakeholders, notably existing and potential investors

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

*Qualified Accountant (ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA)
*Ideally practice trained, preferably with experience of auditing AIM listed businesses
*A proven track record of financial delivery
*Demonstrable understanding of complex organisations and key business issues
*Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build, develop and influence relationships
*Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to deliver straight forward advice
*Robust financial accounting background, with relevant, up to date technical and analysis skills
*Ability to identify and drive process change and improvement
*Management and motivation of teams through periods of change
