Maelor Forest Nurseries Limited is located at Fields Farm, Bronington on the Welsh Borders. The nursery is part of the BSW Timber Group Limited and produces an extensive range of commercial forestry and native broadleaf species, marketing approximately 28 million trees a year to customers throughout the UK and Europe.
The Financial Controller Role
A fantastic opportunity to join Maelor Forest Nurseries as a Financial Controller based in Shropshire. This is a key Financial Controller role responsible for managing the finance function and accounting team, as well as providing vital support to the Directors and Managers.
Key Responsibilities
The day to day responsibilities of the Financial Controller will include:
- Cash management
- Producing weekly KPI reports and monthly managements accounts
- Managing the payroll function
- Ensuring compliance with tax legislation
- Compiling annual budgets and forecasts
- Taking responsibility for any additional projects as required
Working closely with senior managers and directors, the Financial Controller will also:
- Provide ad hoc financial information and analysis
- Prepare and monitor tactical improvement plans
- Support operational and production initiatives to reduce cost and improve effieciency
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate for this Financial Controller role will have:
- CIMA / ACCA qualification
- Strong commercial acumen
- Experience in working within manufacturing environment (desirable)
- Working knowledge of operational accounting processes
- Working knowledge of Sage and Sage Payroll
- Well-developed organisational, communication, planning and analytical skills
- Strong IT skills
- High attention to detail
- The ability to work on own initiative and to tight deadlines
