Financial Accountant

A new opportunity for a Financial Accountant has arisen at an ambitious organisation in Chester. This role is offered on a permanent, full time contract.

About the Role

The appointed Financial Accountant will be joining a finance team which is considered central to the success of the company, with their aim to proactively drive business value through informed and insightful decision making.

The team works in partnership with the business and are agile and responsive to business needs whilst maintaining a transparent system of effective standards, processes and controls.

Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, the Financial Accountant will be required to:

• Prepare the monthly management accounts including assisting with the consolidation accounting
• Perform the monthly intercompany reconciliation, including management of the intercompany recharge, settlement and mismatch process and other balance sheet reconciliations
• Prepare the monthly results and flash forecasting, with a focus on overhead and related costs
• Assist with the preparation of the interim and annual external financial reporting
• Liaise with the finance business partners and wider business to prepare rolling forecasts for overhead, and assist in the development of improved cash flow forecasts and financial MI
• Maintain the fixed asset and intangibles register
• Assist with the completion of UK statutory and regulatory requirements, including matters related to corporation tax, VAT and funding
• Challenge existing business processes and assist in developing a culture of continuous improvement

Candidate Requirements

The successful Financial Accountant will have the following attributes:

• Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA) with strong academics
• Experience in technical financial accounting (in practice or industry) with up to date IFRS accounting knowledge
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail (with an emphasis on process)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to respond appropriately to time-sensitive requests
• A working knowledge of multicurrency consolidations and further exposure to an industry environment and accounts preparation is highly advantageous
• Knowledge of corporation tax, VAT and related compliance requirements
• PC literate with high proficiency in MS Excel
