You will be involved in the ‘forward-facing’ stuff as well as the retrospective reporting / month endy bits and bobs. This is key – you will really have chance to guide strategic decision making around contracts, tender pricing, project selection, strategic forecasting, budgets, areas of investment, opportunity appraisal. It's certainly not just about getting the numbers out so they can be filed in a soon-to-be-dusty A4 box.

So, Are you someone looking to really make a difference within a growing and professional SME? As financial controller you will hold the train set – responsible for all aspects of the finance control for this aspirational group (circa £15m current turnover). There is support from a consultant FD if required but this is a great opportunity for a bright finance professional to carve their career path to FD. You will manage a small collaborative team and provide insightful reporting, board packs and MI to provide financial insight that will ultimately support ongoing growth.

You will need a decent foundation of management accounting / financial reporting and be qualified.

This is a modern SME and you will work closely with the inspirational and highly approachable MD.

You need to be cool rolling up your sleeves and getting stuck into the transactional nitty gritty where required – although if you can mentor and delegate effectively then you will naturally step away from the nuts and bolts quickly.

You need to be tech savvy and know excel shortcuts.

There is loads of scope to proactively add value in a really varied and interesting role.
