Hays Senior Finance is proud to be working in partnership with The Culture Trust, Luton who are an arts and cultural charity connecting communities through exemplary cultural activity and facilities such as the recently opened Hat Factory Arts Centre and award-winning Stockwood Discovery Centre.

Due to the current Director of Finance retiring they have an exciting opportunity and are looking to appoint a Director of Finance & Resources to join their team. For candidate's who would consider commuting for this opportunity the role is based in central Luton, which is only a few minute's walk from Luton railway station. You will be based at either the Hat Factory Arts Centre or Central Library.

This is a pivotal appointment where you would be a key member of the leadership team and be able to make a difference through leading the finance functions for major capital projects and cultural activity programmes across this £6m turnover charity.

As the Director of Finance & Resources you will ensure the organisations strategic financial objectives and business growth plans are met. You will advise the Chief Executive and board of trustees on all financial matters and ensure business decisions are aligned with the financial strategy to enhance financial culture and performance.

You will get involved in the day-to-day financial operations as well as inspiring, mentoring, coaching and influencing others, to innovate and improve the financial processes to drive The Culture Trust financial growth strategy. You will lead on financial and resource functions for The Culture Trust Charity and Trading Company. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, your key areas of responsibility are financial controls, charitable not-for-profit management, risk and compliance, trading profitability, capital and property and HR (contracted in part).

This role will have several key relationships in addition to the CEO, these will include the three Directors, board of trustees, managing a team of six and supporting the organisation on all financial and resource management matters. The role will also involve reviewing their current IT systems to see if they are fit for purpose, you will then project manage, lead and implement new IT system developments and upgrades across the organisation.

The successful candidate will be a finance professional and a qualified accountant, ACA, FCA, ACCA or equivalent. The organisation is entrepreneurial, idea generating and has a team approach to problem solving, so it is essential that you can apply your specialisms to a range of new initiatives and organisational developments.

It is essential that you have extensive leadership skills and the drive, ambition and passion to deliver great results. Above all you will have a strong degree of commercial acumen, with the ability to liaise with key stakeholders and create insightful financial information that will drive growth and business performance.

You will also have strong skills in strategic planning, monitoring and reporting on the delivery of plans and projects and a good understanding of the financial procedures and practices around property purchase, estate management and knowledge on how charities can sweat their assets. You will be commercially aware and have the gravitas to win the respect and confidence of colleagues across The Culture Trust.
