Delighted to be partnering with a Leading Financial Services Group in Yorkshire to help appoint a new Head of Financial Accounting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acting as a business partner to all areas in providing support, advice and challenge in relation to technical accounting queries, providing appropriate analysis, challenge and maintenance of robust control frameworks.
  • Delivering the functional services relating to financial accounting and regulatory reporting, be accountable for and oversee the effective execution of the following:
  • External statutory & regulatory reporting.
  • Liaison with external auditors.
  • Accounting estimates processes including papers for Audit Committee.
  • Delivery of compliance with changes to accounting standards & regulatory guidance.
  • Finance controls and mandates.
  • Finance advisory and awareness - including technical updates to broader finance teams.
  • Technical queries relating to accounting.
  • Leading a team of 11 finance professionals. Manage, coach and develop a high performing team, identifying skills gaps and training solutions for career progression to be the best they can be every day and succession planning.
  • Supporting the establishment and delivery of the financial strategy, management, statutory and regulatory reporting and governance framework and controls for the Group.
  • Supporting the leadership of Finance, providing leadership across the function and supporting the development and review of strategic and tactical priorities for Finance.

Experience Required

  • Qualified accountant - preferably ACA or FCA.
  • Previously held a similar role within financial accounting or audit within a financial services organisation.
  • Senior level experience in leading a finance team to deliver high quality and compliant financial management and reporting mechanisms.
  • Senior level experience in financial control management.
  • Deep understanding of finance regulation, in particular that pertinent to the Group.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to converse effectively with senior stakeholder and external bodies, as required.
  • Evidence of professional learning and development to build and maintain skills and expertise.
