I am currently representing an extremely prestigious property client with a finance head office based in the heart of Manchester City Centre in outstanding offices. Due to an internal promotion, an excellent permanent position has arisen for a Financial Accountant to report to and assist the Group Financial Controller. The business is a large group of businesses that has a legacy stretching back over 100 years and has done much to increase the positive profile of the City over the last 10 years.
As the Financial Accountant, the role will deal with contacts across the Group and have the opportunity to stamp their mark on a key role within the business. The role will be varied, but will have a strong financial focus across areas such as inter-company accounting, management of the balance sheet, control of the nominal ledger, account preparation (including pre-audit statutory account preparation), monthly and quarterly VAT returns, assisting with monthly reporting, cashflow reporting, and cost management and reporting of new ventures.
Your duties will include:
- Preparation of monthly management reports
- Preparation of quarterly board packs for the asset manager and FD/CEO
- Preparation and assistance of annual statutory accounts
- Preparation of cash flow forecasts for review by FC and FD
- Posting accounting entries for group companies
- Reconcile the financial records to actual costs incurred and relevant budgets
- Setting up of up new funds and headings for new developments. Ensure all costs are accurately coded to the correct funds and headings
- General support to senior members of the finance team, with particular reference to posting journal entries into the accounts and producing primary reconciliations
- Management of group consolidation matters
- Preparation of statutory accounts at both entity and consolidated level.
- Manage the posting of the transactions for monthly, quarterly and year end purposes
- Monthly and quarterly VAT returns
- Assistance with Capital Allowance matters
- Assistance with the CIS matters
- Cost recording and budget control for assets under construction
- Assist in modelling of new funding transactions
- Preparation of monthly drawdowns from existing bank facilities & third party funds
- Reviewing and documenting internal control procedures
- Ad-hoc reporting duties as required from time to time
The ideal candidate will be:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA)
- Either a first time move from practice, or will already have valuable experience within the property industry
- Creative thinker who's hungry to progress their career
- Self-starter who can work well as part of a small team, without micro-management.
