PAYROLL MANAGER - Leicester

Our client a well-known market leader in its' field is looking to appoint a Payroll Manager to join it's team on a permanent basis.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

*To Lead the payroll Team in ensuring all staff are paid accurately each period and issued with all the relevant information through the accurate inputting and calculation of all the various pay elements, e. salary, bonus, sick & maternity / paternity pay etc.
*To run various reports from the payroll system and be the key systems advisor to other users
*To ensure that all payroll related queries from all internal and external stakeholders, e. colleagues, HMRC, CSA etc. are responded to in a timely manner
*To identify & implement ongoing improvements to Payroll processes to continually improve service to the business

PEOPLE/LEADERSHIP
*To lead and develop the payroll team (3 people) ensuring objectives & development plans are in place

People
*Responsible for a small team.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Essential
*Previous experience in a Payroll Manager position
*Experience of managing, coaching and developing a team
*Payroll subject matter expert with experience of working with and effectively managing 3rd party payroll providers
*Knowledge of several in-house and externally hosted payroll and HR systems
*Detailed knowledge of PAYE, SMP, SSP, SPP
*Strong commercial, numerical and analytical skills with the ability to interpret and manage information and data
*Microsoft Excel skills to an advanced level (use of VLOOKUP's / sumifs )
*
*Ability to organise and manage time effectively to achieve tight deadlines
*A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
*Logical thinking and problem-solving ability
*Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels regarding payroll and all associated activities
*Knowledge of pension auto-enrolment regulations
*Ability to remain calm under pressure and use own initiative
Desirable
*Project and change management experience
*Payroll experience gained in a multi-site retail business
*HR information systems and their development.
