Now under new ownership, we’re excited about the opportunities this might bring and looking forward to entering a new era of growth and development, whilst we continue to constantly work together to create a sustainable future for British forests and woodlands.

Head office based and second in command to the Group Chief Financial Officer, this is a key position within both the finance team and wider business, with direct responsibility for managing our Group’s shared service accounting operations. • Payroll –leading the Payroll team, ensuring that staff are paid accurately and on time, whilst supporting HR with the preparation of budgets and other analysis
  • Year-End Accounts – overseeing detailed audit support in the UK, ensuring all necessary supporting reconciliations and records are available.
  • Financial Controls – identifying and mitigating financial control risks; ensuring the follow-up and resolution of external audit control points; and implementing any process improvements
  • Monthly Management Accounts – producing timely Group management accounts; providing financial analysis for Group board reporting; and accurate Corporate Overhead accounting.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting – responsibility for compiling UK/Group budgets and preparing cash flow and balance sheet budgets, along with quarterly forecasts for directors, bank and auditors
  • Tax – ensuring compliance with Indirect and Direct tax legislation for UK and timely payment of liabilities, whilst minimising tax liabilities in UK and Latvia in conjunction with external advisors
  • Relationships – Regular interaction with Finance directors at our Forestry and Latvian operations, as well as liaising closely with external auditors and tax advisors

Ideally, we’re looking for a fully qualified accountant, with proven experience in a similar Financial Controller role, preferably gained in a manufacturing environment, who can demonstrate:

  • The ability to ensure that the delivery of timely, accurate, insightful and high-quality financial reporting is consistent across all Group subsidiaries
  • An excellent level of commercial awareness and a solid track record of improving financial processes, plus the know-how to add value to our finance and wider business operations
  • Proven leadership and strong communication skills, coupled with the ability to build and maintain good working relationships, both internally and externally
  • Plenty of self-motivation and a genuine passion to be a success and make the role your own, along with the potential to progress in the medium to longer term
  • A good degree of PC/IT literacy, including a practical understanding of Microsoft Office (365) applications
  • And a willingness to undertake regular travel to other Group locations within the UK and occasionally overseas

In return, you can look forward to the exciting prospect of furthering your career with of the industry’s leading employers, who are able to offer an excellent salary and benefits package, along with genuine opportunities for on-going personal development.
