Assistant Financial Accountant

Elevation Recruitment Group are currently supporting a well-established business based in the Doncaster area as they look to expand their busy finance function further and appoint a Part Qualified, Assistant Financial Accountant.

This is a newly-created position where the successful candidate will be working closely with the Group Financial Accountant & Group Financial Controller to support across a range of month & year end duties, including the financial close process, balance sheet reconciliations, VAT returns, preparing year end schedules, corporation tax compliance, audit and much, much more!

This is an exciting and progressive opportunity for someone to play a key role in the business where you will need to roll up your sleeves and really get stuck in. They are hoping to bring someone in at the part-qualified level, as they want someone to grow with the role and take on more and more as time progresses.

Duties of the Assistant Financial Controller will include:

*Preparation of VAT returns across various tax jurisdictions
*Prepare year end schedules for external tax advisors
*Assist with month end and year end financial close processes
*Support the interim and full year external audit processes
*Preparation and monitoring of various tax submissions
*Preparation of monthly Intrastat and EC Sales List reports
*Assist with full transition to 'Making Tax Digital'
*Assist with tasks associated with PAYE and Corporation Tax compliance
*Maintain the accounting of vehicle leasing reconciliations
*Preparation of monthly recharges across group companies
*Preparation of monthly intercompany reconciliations
*Preparation of other monthly balance sheet reconciliations
*Assist with supplier/payroll payments
*Other ad-hoc tasks as directed by the Group Financial Accountant and Group Financial Controller

Person specification:

*AAT qualified/relevant university degree and be currently studying towards relevant accounting qualification (ACCA/CIMA) - Essential
*Minimum 2 years' experience in accounting capacity - Essential
*A good understanding of general accounting functions - Essential
*Knowledge of financial reporting, tax and treasury functions - desirable
*Good attention to detail, organised, efficient and accurate approach
*Positive, practical 'can do' attitude
*Strong communication skills - verbal & written
*Strong Excel skills
*Willingness to learn new skills
