6 Month contract leading to a permanent role. A finance business partner / project accounting role in W

A great opportunity for an ambitious finance business partner who possesses strong project accounting skills.
This is initially a 6 month contract with an intention to convert to a permanent contract.

Your new company
A FTSE 250 company specialising in providing systems to the media, detection and control industries.

Your new role
As a Finance Business Partner reporting into Financial Controller you will be a business partner to Project Managers (PMs) and be a promoter of change during the business transformation phase by challenging the status quo.
The FBP will support PMs to develop robust EACs and project margins and partner PMs to create monthly project reporting dashboards. You will ensure financial controls and processes are followed including Revenue Recognition under IFRS15 . You will fully support month end close process and prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and will develop and automate financial models to support decision making.

Duties
Managing a portfolio of projects (Several hundred £k to several £million). Supporting the projects from the delivery (post bid) stage by providing timely performance reporting
Project control
Budget margin management
Management of the risk register
Business partnering with the project managers
Month end duties - month end close including balance sheet management and reporting
Reporting in line with IFRS 15 (Revenue Recognition)



What you'll need to succeed
Technically qualified due to the core month end requirements
Prior experience of project accounting
Preference for defence or engineering but not essential for the right candidate
Exposure to revenue recognition / IFRS15 would be beneficial
A change mindset. Someone who embraces transformation and helps to drive change through the business
System used "IFS" - any exposure to that would be beneficial but not essential
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong problem solving skills and initiative
