Finance Transformation Design Lead - Cash P&MR Transformation programme.

The Cash Planning & Management Reporting (P&MR) project is a key project within our clients Finance Transformation (FT) Programme. The project was initially established to support the Group Cash Team in preparing and reporting actuals and forecasts in a more standardised way, using a single Cash P&MR system and a global process. This System will be an Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System hosted in the Cloud. The project will be implemented in two phases:
Phase 1: Live from June 2020

  • The implementation of a single system for Group Cash performance reporting and forecasting
  • Alignment of statutory & management data sources at Group level
  • Focus on the Group Cash Team

Phase 2: Targeted completion by Q1 2021

  • Further increase the usage of the system and functionality (i. across Finance)
  • Update governance around cashflow actuals/forecasting
  • Align data at management unit level ; this may require investigation and changes to systems (such as SAP), processes and databases further upstream
  • Update the end to end solution for the forecasting and management reporting for specific lines of the cashflow statement, providing greater granularity and insights to Finance




The Design Lead will have accountability for the design of parts of the Phase 2 solution, covering systems, processes, controls and reporting. The successful candidate must be able to work closely with Business & IT stakeholders, having strong communication and stakeholder management skills and be able to assist/take the lead in a variety of other tasks, such as change and communications, user acceptance testing etc. As Design Lead , the role will lead all aspects of the design and support the delivery of Phase 2, including the alignment of data between Cash P&MR system and the operational management tools. The role entails working closely with other members of the FT Programme team, IT, Oracle consultants and Business stakeholders in order to successfully deliver this project.

Key activities:

  • Lead the analysis of current state operations and understand business needs/requirements. Identify process, functional and technical requirements, translating the requirements into design specifications and documents.
  • Closely partnering with the IT development team, ensuring the technical solution will deliver the agreed business benefits.
  • Design further granularity in data and reporting requirements for the Cash P&MR system
  • Work closely with the Data and IT teams on:
    • Designing any solutions proposed
    • The conversion of historical Cashflow data from various sources to validate alignment of key line items.
    • Where appropriate, integrate systems into the Finance landscape to achieve automatic alignment.
    • Develop and improve webforms and data structures to enable system alignment.
    • Design and deliver required metadata hierarchies and mapping requirements
    • Assist in the development of various technical documents, such as functional specifications and solution blueprint
  • Document updated business processes, RACI and controls (system and non-system), including the cash management governance model
  • Ensure appropriate controls are embedded in the solution being developed, including the ability to reconcile data between different systems and reporting views
  • Design and develop reporting requirements
  • Take the lead on specific change management and communication initiatives; act as a champion for project
  • Create and review test scripts and assist in testing the new system, processes and reports
  • Assist users in training and during hyper care


What you'll need to succeed

  • Finance experience, particularly Cash planning and forecasting experience
    • Ideally you will hold a Professional Finance qualification
  • Experience with SAP
  • Well-developed organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Experience of working with third party suppliers
  • Experience of writing policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Independent and collaborative worker
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in Business English
  • Significant experience of global technology implementations
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects/tasks effectively
  • Proven experience of change management
  • Demonstrated success working in a team environment
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Experience of implementing significant business change across different national and business boundaries
