Your new company
Hays is proud and excited to be recruiting for a Tax Senior / Assistant Manager on behalf of an instantly recognisable Financial Services organisation in Edinburgh. Customer-orientated with a focus on working with local businesses, you will be joining an experienced Tax Team within a highly reputable business. Standard hours at 9am to 5pm, however flexible and remote working is available. Please note, due to present circumstances, all employees are currently working from home and interviews are likely to be conducted initially by video call.
Your new role
You will ensure UK tax compliance, reporting and payment obligations are met, whilst supporting with the identification of risk and maximisation of opportunities in line with legislation and internal policies. This will be predominately in relation to Corporate Tax, but also cover Indirect and Operational Taxes. Responsibilities will include preparation of the month end Corporation Tax reporting figures and journal entries for inclusion in the Statutory Reporting figures; completion of the group VAT return, preparation of the annual Operational Tax Returns; and management of the annual submission of the PAYE Settlement Agreement. You will act as a key point of contact between various internal business areas and external advisers, as well as delivering an internal tax advice service. You will also be pivotal in projects, such as Making Tax Digital and Transfer Pricing reviews.
What you'll need to succeed
As the successful applicant, you will have a proven track record of meeting tax compliance and reporting requirements in either a Practice or In-house capacity with a strong knowledge of UK Corporation Tax. Experience within Financial Services will enhance your application, as will exposure to Indirect Tax, but these are not essential. You will have the desire to expand your knowledge and work well within a small team environment. You will have excellent communication and the ability to manage stakeholder engagement. Ideally you will be ICAS/ICAEW/ACCA/ATT/CTA qualified.
