The role will be based across all four shops giving you plenty of variety and the chance to get to know our whole team and a broad range of clients. The working hours will be 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.

You will be allocated a number of accounts and tax returns to be completed each week and will work alongside the rest of the team to ensure targets are achieved. You will also have clients whose VAT returns you are responsible for. The ideal candidate will also be able to review work prepared by other team members and take client meetings in future.

The role includes the following duties and we are ideally looking for people who have experience in:

  • Your tax knowledge must be up to date and you will need good IT skills. Ideally you will hold or be working towards an accountancy qualification from a professional body (ACCA/ICAS/ICAEW/AAT), however if you hold an accountancy degree or are qualified by experience and feel you are right for this role then we would be happy to hear from you.
  • Good people skills and a confident and friendly personality to help build strong relationships with the team and with clients,
  • The ability to take ownership of work and see things through to completion, including working unsupervised and to deadlines,
  • We require an individual with a sense of ownership, a thirst for learning and with growth mindset both personally and for the business.
  • The starting salary for the role is £20k - £26k depending on experience.
  • There is also the possibility of financial contribution towards study costs for the right candidate.
  • There is an Employee Wellbeing/Assistance scheme for all employees.
  • Workplace Pension available.
  • Be part of a recognised national accountancy network while also working in a friendly, small business environment.
  • Experience the rewarding and varied nature of working with local businesses. You will be helping a wide range of small business owners with their accountancy needs and no two days will be the same.
  • Benefit from access to training, CPD, guidance, tools and videos to expand your soft skills and technical knowledge.
  • Work for an employer that is focused on long-term staff retention.
  • Join a team that is quick to adapt, are advocates of cloud bookkeeping and other time-saving products - we take innovation seriously and are often involved in piloting and testing new products for the wider network.
  • Be part of a company that focuses on more than just filing tax returns and meeting deadlines. We want to provide excellent customer service to our clients and we also work closely with a local charity and get involved in supporting them wherever we can.
