Head of Tax, Property Developer

Client / Role

A leading London property developer with an excellent reputation within the sector, delivering a diverse range of projects, is currently looking for a Head of Tax to support the wider finance team, CFO, commercial and projects teams. Experience of REIT, SPV’s, International tax and CIS would be beneficial.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Coordinate and own on time submission of all tax returns and payments, including VAT, CIS, Corporation Tax, P11D’s etc.
• Own implementation and ongoing compliance to Domestic Reverse Charge, including:
• Liaison with suppliers and customers regarding impact and necessary declarations
• Ensure accuracy and manage risk of main contractor responsibility for correct VAT treatment
• Ensure decisions to opt to tax land have been fully assessed, recorded and submitted to HMRC in a timely manner
• Coordinate assessment of Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) on land acquisitions
• Support Development teams and coordinate liaison with external tax advisors
• Capture, analyse and report of PAYE settlement agreement costs
• Collation of stock plots and completed properties for rent or sale
• Ensure information is suitable for insurance and tax reporting
• Being point of contact for any queries from HMRC and acting as lead on HMRC audits
• Ensure compliance to new MTD requirements
• Other ad hoc duties

Person:

You will be a qualified accountant, preferably CTA, with the capability to work with all levels of individuals across the business. You will be able to not only demonstrate your technical expertise but also commercial capabilities. Your role will support the finance team and commercial team on current and new business projects. The role also entails barter transactions.
