THE COMPANY

An excellent opportunity has arisen at a Private Equity backed business in West Yorkshire for a Group Financial Controller. The Group Financial Controller will be tasked with taking full responsibility for all aspects of the group financial controls framework and they will play a significant leadership role in the business.

This is a highly visible role and the successful candidate will be working closely with the Board and have regular interaction with the Private Equity investors and other Directors.

This role would suit a highly ambitious candidate who will be looking to progress to an FD or CFO role in the near future, and this role will equip them with the experience and exposure they will need to succeed at this level.

THE JOB

The main responsibilities within this role will include:

  • Oversee all aspects of the group finance function and act as a strong leader to the finance team
  • Implement a robust financial controls framework in accordance with IFRS
  • Lead all aspects of treasury including ensuring strict cash and working capital controls are adhered to
  • Playing a lead role on a number of high profile Group finance initiatives, including potential M&A activity
  • Work closely with the Head of Commercial Finance to implement a sound group forecasting and budgeting process
  • Review the Group's current reporting and consolidation process and recommend improvements

THE CANDIDATE

The key candidate requirements for this role are as follows:

  • Qualified Accountant, with a strong preference for Big 4 or Top 10 ACA Qualification
  • Significant managerial and leadership experience
  • Ideally previous experience within a group reporting or head office reporting environment with strong technical accounting skills
  • Must be highly ambitious and looking to push towards being a Finance Director or CFO in the next few years
  • Must be resilient and open to change
  • Able to communicate effectively at a high level, including with Directors, Board Members and Investors

This is one of the stand out Group FC / No. 2 in Finance roles in the region and it will be an excellent stepping stone to an FD or CFO role in the near future.
