My client, a leading global retail group, are looking to add a Senior Accountant to their vibrant team for the next few of months. The role will focus on the technical side of accountaning with a broad range of responsibilities.

Outline of the role below:

Audits and Statutory Accounts

  • Full responsibility for year-end audit and statutory accounts compliance including liaising with local accountants
  • Manage the planning of interim and final audits
  • Manage auditor attendance of EU wide stock-takes
  • Full reconciliation of Statutory adjustments in each territory including posting of statutory adjustments
  • Manage the process for setting up new entities in new territories
  • Responsibility for monthly reporting packs sent to local accountants including SOCs

Intercompany

  • Ownership of intercompany journals and reconciliations across all EU legal entities
  • Understanding of Transfer Pricing adjustments booked within each legal entity and liaising with the US tax team for quarterly and year end adjustments processed

Corporation Tax

  • Ensure all Corporation/Trade tax obligations are met in all local jurisdictions, working closely with local accountants to achieve this
  • Be point of liaison between local European accountants and US tax department
  • Manage preparation of annual tax packs for US tax department

Other

  • Compiling uniform schedules/process maps on current financial systems to be shared with local accountants/auditors
  • Review of Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Oversee bag tax reporting
  • Oversee National Statistics compliance

Requirements

The role is heavily compliance focused and the successful candidate should be technically strong and be skilled in analytics and problem solving. The role should provide support, coaching and mentoring to junior staff and assist in streamlining and improving processes. The current financial systems used are Oracle, Hyperion, Microstrategy to name a few.

  • Newly Qualified ACA (Ideally big 4)
  • Retail experience Essential
  • experience with one of the foloowing systems: Oracle, Hyperion, Microstrategy)

  • Is proactive and takes initiative
  • Is personable and works well in a team environment
