Commercial Accountant

The distribution arm of one of the UK’s major retailers is looking for a Commercial Accountant to join its finance department in Pontefract, West Yorkshire for a full-time, permanent role.

Your New Role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, key areas of focus for the role are KPI reporting, management accounts, budgeting and forecasting and the requirement to communicate with senior stakeholders. This is a pivotal role in an exciting fast-paced environment. As the Commercial Accountant you will:

• Report and analyse weekly and periodic performance indicators to support operational cost control
• Understand and communicate key cost drivers to support the cost focus process
• Produce the periodic management accounts for the warehouse operation
• Produce, review and forecast monthly balance sheets
• Prepare monthly cost forecasts and bi-annual budgets
• Conduct monthly finance reviews with warehouse site management
• Play a part in the medium to long term capex planning process
• Perform investment appraisals to support operational decision making

About You

The successful application will be a qualified or part-qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA or ACA) who demonstrates:

• Good IT knowledge - Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, CODA, SQL
• The ability to analyse and interpret large volumes of information
• Excellent attention to detail with an analytical approach to solving problems
• Strong communication and influencing skills
• Enthusiasm and drive with a real passion for personal development
• The ability to adapt and keep pace with a fast-moving environment
• Commercial awareness and understanding of core business processes

Salary

On offer for the Commercial Accountant will be a salary of £35,000 - £40,000 per annum, dependent on experience, plus benefits and a bonus.
