Formed from the merger of Shrewsbury Sixth Form College and Shrewsbury College of Arts and Technology, SCG is a designated Sixth Form College offering Sixth Form College terms and conditions.
Shrewsbury Colleges Group provides 16-19 academic and vocational education and in addition, apprenticeships, adult and higher education for students from across Shropshire and beyond. This exciting new role will provide additional financial support, analysis and advice for the Executive Director of Finance and the College Senior Leadership Team. You will also support the College’s budget holders by acting as a trusted advisor and by providing valuable analysis and insights to influence decision-making.
This Finance Business Partner vacancy:
The successful candidate will also support the Finance Manager and Finance team to maintain and, where necessary, improve financial controls across Shrewsbury Colleges Group.
Working across all three of the College’s campuses the Finance Business Partner will provide financial support, analysis and advice for the EDoF and College Senior Leadership Team and the College’s budget holders acting as a trusted advisor and by providing valuable analysis and insights to influence decision-making. In addition the Finance Business Partner will, in partnership with the Finance Manager and Finance team, maintain and where necessary further improve financial controls across Shrewsbury Colleges Group.
Main Responsibilities:
Some of the main responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
- To analyse and report the monthly financial performance of the College, developing and enhancing existing financial and KPI reporting.
- To support and manage the annual financial budgeting and business planning process
- To analyse curriculum and commercial financial performance, identifying causes of cost or income variances and reporting findings and recommendations to the Senior Leadership and Curriculum Leaders.
- To assist Senior Leaders and Curriculum Leaders with the development of business cases and to provide financial analysis to support commercial and financial decision making.
- To build and maintain strong relationships with College Managers and Curriculum Leaders responsible for budgets.

Person Specification
Essential
- Full UK driving licence
- Part-qualified or Qualified accountant (ACCA / ACA or CIMA).
- Good numeracy/literacy skills
- Commercially minded with relevant commercial experience
- Good organisational and planning skills
- Educated to degree level
- 2 to 3 years of post-qualification experience in a role such as Management Accountant or Finance Analyst
- Experience of contributing to initiatives at a site or whole organisation level
