Financial Controller - Fixed term contract

Liverpool

We have an opportunity for a fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with at least 2 years PQE to join a professional services / agency business based in Liverpool on a 12 month contract. Reporting to the MD you will be responsible for the smooth day to day running of the organisation's financial function. You will also act as an advisor to the senior management team, preparing management accounting information for the monthly management meetings with recommendations and supporting information to enable sustainable growth in line with the business vision and strategy.

The role:

  • Responsibility for monthly management accounts and reporting information to the SMT.
  • Monitoring cash flow, project profitability, and other financial information.
  • Processing quarterly VAT returns
  • Overseeing PL / SL and credit control (managed by the bookkeeper).
  • Line management of the bookkeeper.
  • Managing risk within the business both financially and legally.
  • Analysis of data and market trends to assist the SMT in creating strategic plans for the future
  • Financial modelling.
  • Reviewing reporting tools and systems.
  • Oversight of the operations team, helping to drive efficiencies.

What we are looking for:

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA with at least 2 years PQE.
  • Some knowledge and experience of negotiating corporate contracts is desirable.
  • Experience of working in a time based or project based business or an agency environment.
  • An understanding of professional services accounting.
  • Able to work with all types of people from technical to creative.
